Ask at least three people you trust and respect the questions below. The goal is to continue to improve communication skills, understand other’s perspectives, and build trust. Summarize the answers by question and reflect on their responses, what you learned, felt, and experienced, and what you can do to increase self-awareness.

Tips

· Consider making it anonymous using Qualtrics or Google Forms

· This allows your trusted friends and family to be honest and open

· If it is important, keep notes of their responses

· Maintain open and positive communication with your participants, even if responses are difficult to hear

· Avoid being defensive

First, write your answers to the questions below. Next, ask at least three people the questions below. You may add additional questions.

1. What one word or phrase describes me best?

2. What do you believe is my greatest strength?

3. What do you value most about me?

4. In what ways do you believe I still need to grow?

5. How do I react to challenges or disagreements?

6. What do I do, that is most annoying to you?

Purpose

Self-awareness refers to the ability to recognize and understand your own thoughts, emotions, behaviors, strengths, and weaknesses. It involves being conscious of your internal states and how they influence your actions and interactions with others. Self-awareness helps you identify areas for personal development and growth. By understanding your strengths and weaknesses, you can work on improving yourself and reaching your full potential.

Reflection Instructions

Write a 1-page reflection exploring your personal experiences, thoughts, and feelings on the activity. Describe the process you went through, who you asked, how they responded, the challenges you faced, and how you overcame them. Analyze what you learned about your communication skills and self-awareness. Avoid only describing what happened but analyzing and interpreting the experience.

Tips and Guiding Questions

· Be honest about your feelings and thoughts

· Reflect on both positive and negative aspects

· Support your reflections with specific examples from the experience

· Use the first-person perspective (I, me, my) to convey your personal reflections

· Question your own biases, stereotypes, preconceptions, and assumptions

· Offer a detailed account of the experience

· Summarize results for each question separately

· What happened? Who was involved? Where and when did it take place?

· Reflect on what you learned from the experience

· How did it affect you? What were your thoughts and feelings? Consider different perspectives and insights

· When relevant, make connections to class content, discussions, and book

· Review your writing for clarity, coherence, and organization

· Check for grammatical errors and ensure that your reflections are well-articulated
